In Asia, traditionally spheres have been used as a symbol of perfection and unity. The Taichung Cultural Centre is composed of two spheres: sphere of knowledge (library) and sphere of creativity (museum). The juxtaposition of two spheres represents the improvement through friendly rivalry and unity of different disciplines, which will make Taichung to be the new "city of culture".
